A Very La Fille Colette Wedding
Posted: Sep 15 2019
In more personal news, my husband and I are celebrating our two year wedding anniversary today! Let's take a look back at what it was like to design my own dress and wear it to get married!
When my husband, Sammy, asked me to marry him, I was wearing La Fille Colette at the time (naturally!) and by the end of that same night, I had a clear idea of what I wanted my wedding dress to look like.
I also realized I didn't want to just design my own dress, but each of my 9 bridesmaid dresses as well.
This was an especially fun collection to design, as each dress was made specifically with one of my bridesmaids in mind. I sent out a survey to get a better sense of everyone's preferences, and tried to meld their individual styles with mine.
It was so exciting to see all the dresses come along. But, as tends to happen with manufacturing anything, there were many unexpected delays and road blocks! After selecting the fabric for my dress, for instance, I tried to order it, only to learn that all the available stock had been bought up by Oscar de la Renta! A chic, albeit not very fun problem to have.
Eventually, all the dresses were in as finished a state as they were going to be, and ready to walk down the runway (aisle). Done is better than perfect, as they say.
I loved how my signature colors looked all together, and especially how they popped against the natural green backdrop.
For my wedding dress, I wore it off the shoulder for the ceremony and dinner, and then converted it into a strapless by tying the straps under my arms. Voila! Ready for dancing.
I hope you like some of these dresses as much as I did, because we're going to bring a few of them back in our next collection! Make sure you sign up for our e-list here so you don't miss it!
